Sound Healing

By Katryn Lavanture

It is an indescribable feeling to be surrounded by ancient Himalayan singing bowls that are being toned and sung in the spirit of calling forth your True Self …and anchoring it in the sacred space that is your body.  These bowls are part of a path of healing work that uses sound to bring the body, mind, emotions, and spirit into harmonized states of being, where we are living from the highest levels of consciousness that we can hold.

We’re not talking about just any sound; this is the sound of an instrument that has been made ceremonially, in temple space, perhaps hundreds of years ago.  These bowls have been made from 7 sacred metals that are alchemized and hand crafted into bowls that, when struck or sung, radiate sound patterns and overtones that interact with the physical and energy bodies of any living presence and call it back into it’s highest form.  In my sessions, I place them around and on the body and play them in configurations of triads and diads, sacred forms, or just organically, listening to the guidance coming from your innate intelligence, your guides and angels, and any other presences of the light available in the session.  Throughout the whole sound healing experience I am inwardly praying the affirmations that will help you manifest your intentions for healing or transformation.

In my sound healing practice I also use tuning forks, both on and around the body.  These particular tuning forks have been tuned to the sounds and rhythms of the cosmos – the planets, sun, moon, earth, asteroids – which brings an ancient presence and memory back to the Self and the body…the memory of that which we come from and that which we are made of.  It reminds us, at the deepest levels, of Home, and how to live from our fullest potential.

My energetic healing work is focused on retrieving the original “blueprint” of one’s Self – who you would have been had you had no negative or diminishing influences – and bringing it back to serve as the primary resource for your life.  Working with sound vibration brings a presence and dynamic that is in perfect alignment with my way of healing.  It’s as if the instruments, themselves an expression of perfect form, are speaking directly to your heart, soul, and spirit and calling them up to be all that they can be…which, in truth, is what our true selves are seeking anyway.

To me, humanity is on the fast track to transformation and shifting consciousness, ready or not.  The best way I can serve is to assist human beings, individually or collectively, in realizing who they really are, and the vast and rich ways they belong to the greater whole.  When that understanding has been restored to our cognitive, day-to-day self we are free to make different choices in how we relate to the world – human and non-human; we are resourced to live in a way that is life-giving instead of life-diminishing.  We just need to follow the Sound of our own soul – it knows the way.  In what ways have you been hearing the sounds of guidance or your soul’s calling?

its with joy and relief , as well as appreciation, that i read this! SOO many offerings go only as far as ‘realize yourself’ -speaking of the small self alone while ignoring that larger Body of which we all partake…

So true, Anna! It’s that movement toward life-giving thinking and being that I find so compelling about Sound Healing — and the use of sound in other sacred, life affirming ways.
